How To: Get the Nextbit Robin's Camera & Gallery Apps on Any Android Device
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, a new smartphone manufacturer named Nextbit emerged, then released its first flagship device—the Nextbit Robin. The headlining feature of this colorful gadget is its cloud-based app storage, but the phone itself comes with a very polished and sophisticated suite of software. Thanks to some great work by developer Nicolo D'Evangelista over on XDA-Developers, we can enjoy some of the Nextbit Robin's software on other Android devices. His ported versions of the Camera and Gallery apps will install on any device running Marshmallow or higher, so the setup is really simple, and I'll show you how to do it below.Don't Miss: Get Android Nougat's Quick Settings & Recent Apps Menus

Step 1: Download & Install the Nextbit Robin AppsTo get started, simply download the Nextbit Gallery and Camera installers, then tap either of the "Download complete" notifications. From there, press "Install," then tap "Done," and repeat this process for the second app as well.Download the Nextbit Camera app (.apk) Download the Nextbit Gallery app (.apk)
Step 2: Try Out Your New AppsWith the apps now installed, you're ready to try them out. For starters, the Gallery app is simple and beautiful, with some nice blur effects going on in the background. It doesn't offer any image editing features, but it uses some Material Design, and it's lightning-fast. The camera app, on the other hand, is more powerful than its simple interface may lead you to believe. If you tap the + button, the control bar will expand to show more options—but if you tap the grid icon here, you'll be able to switch between shooting modes. One of the modes is a full manual camera, where you can tweak exposure, white balance, and ISO, so it's a very powerful shooter packaged in an easy-to-use interface.
