How To: Change the Color of Your OnePlus One's Lock Screen
As much as it pained me to lose lock screen widget functionality, I just can't bare changing out the sleek-looking lock screen that's standard on the OnePlus One. The latest OTA introduced a new transparent theme, and while that's a welcomed improvement, I need more options!Developer NunHugger felt my pain and released his own mod to change up the keyguard background. You'll need a rooted OnePlus One with TWRP installed for this guide, but those are a cinch to take care of. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Download Your ZIP FileThe ZIP that you will need to flash in TWRP depends on what version of CyanogenMod you are running. To find your build number, head to Settings -> About phone -> CyanogenMod version. With version number in hand, find the background that is right for your device. Remember that you can only have one background at a time, but you can definitely download as many as you want to try out—you'll just need to flash a new one each time to want to change.

Build Number XNPH25RBamboo Gradient Circuit Brushed Metal Orange Green Red All of the zips for the XNPH33R build should work on the newest OTA, but some have reported force-close issues. If you fall into that boat, just flash one of the stock .zips located at the bottom of this guide.

Step 2: Flash in RecoveryNow that you have your ZIP downloaded, it's time to boot into TWRP. If you have Developer Options enabled, you can activate Advanced Reboot to boot into Recovery from your power menu. From TWRP's main menu, tap Install, then select your downloaded ZIP (it should be in your Downloads folder unless you moved it). Option 2: Dynamically Changing KeyguardIf you'd rather have your background change as your wallpaper does, you should check out Dynamic OnePlus One Lock from rush25. His mod uses your system's theme to find and match an appropriate color for your keyguard.For CM11 ROMs For CM11S ROMs This mod comes in ZIP form as well, so download the linked file and flash it in TWRP the same way we did above. After you boot back up, you can see the mod take effect by changing your theme through the CyanogenMod Theme Manager.

Step 1: Install Good LockGood Lock and QuickStar will only work on Galaxy devices that are running Android 8.0 Oreo, which is a great reason to upgrade now if you hadn't already done so. Once you have, you'll need to install Good Lock to begin. So go into your app drawer and tap on Galaxy Apps, then search for and install Good Lock. Step 2: Enable QuickStarNext, open Good Lock and select "QuickStar" from the main menu. Doing so will take you directly to QuickStar's download page within the Galaxy Apps store, so hit "Install" to enable the add-on.

Step 3: Customize Your Quick Settings PanelNow, head back to Good Lock and tap "QuickStar," then select "Coloring" on the following page. From there, tap on the toggle directly under "Coloring" to turn the feature on. Inside the "Coloring" page, you can now quickly change your Quick Settings panel's theme simply by tapping on one of the recommended templates found within the page, and hitting "Apply" to confirm the changes. If you truly want to personalize the Quick Settings panel, however, you can tap on the box right under "My Coloring" and create your very own Quick Settings panel. Tapping on "Color 1" from within the custom page will pull up color pallets that you can swipe on to choose your desired color for icons that are enabled. Selecting "Color 2 will yield the same option as "Color 1," but this time, you get to set your desired color for the icons within Quick Settings panel that are turned off. "Color 3" takes care of the background color for the Quick Settings panel, so go through the motions of customizing its overall finish as you did for the icon colors. In addition to setting, QuickStar has numerous options available to further personalize your Quick Settings panel. This options include adjusting the panel's transparency, along with toggles for "Blur Effect" and "Dim Effect" that lets you blur and dim the background (respectively) when accessing your Quick Settings panel.If you want to go fully transparent, drag the "Background Transparency" slider all the way to the right until it hits 100%.Once you've found the perfect combination, tap on "Save" to create the custom profile. Upon doing so, a prompt will appear asking you to either save the profile for a later date, or apply immediately. Whatever you decide to do, you can now exit QuickStar and go back to the rest of your day. As great as QuickStar's customization features are with regards to the Quick Settings panel, it's only currently limited to the panel itself, and doesn't extend to notifications and other data that appear right under it. Hopefully, Good Lock will will address these minor issues through updates. If you've ever found yourself wandering about a room, holding your phone up to the sky searching for a signal, this is just the trick for you. Edward from Redmond Pie found a great way to configure the readout with just a simple phone call, making your iPhone display its exact signal strength in decibels (dBm).

Step 1: Put Your iPhone into Field Test ModeDial *3001#12345#* and press call. This will put your phone into Field Test mode, where you'll notice a signal strength indicator in the left-hand corner of the screen. You can tap on the signal bars to switch it to a numerical value and vice versa. The closer the number is to 0, the stronger your signal. So, a -60 would be stronger than a -93, and a 0 stronger than a -60.
Step 2: Make It "Permanent"To keep this feature even after exiting the app, hold down the Power button until the Slide to Power Off bar appears. However, don't power off the device.

Step 3: Close the AppPress and hold the Home button until the app closes and it returns you to the Springboard. You should now see your signal strength in dBm in the upper left-hand corner. To reverse this process and go back to the default display, dial *3001#12345#* again, press call, then press the Home button once. You can always re-enable the feature as needed.

You know you can easily schedule your Mac to not only shut down, restart, or go to sleep at a certain time, but also turn on and wake up for when you need it ready.

How to Schedule Your Mac with Energy SaverOpen your System Preferences and click on Energy Saver. In Energy Saver, click on the Schedule option at the bottom right. To schedule your Mac to either start or wake up, check the box at the top, select which day you want it to turn on (or select every day), then select the time. To schedule your Mac to fall asleep, restart, or shut down at a certain time, check the second box, select which option you want (you can only choose one), then choose the day and time. Once you're finished, hit OK and your Mac operations are now scheduled. For a scheduled shutdown, restart, or sleep, a notification will appear at the scheduled time. Step 1: Enable the Subject LineYou can't turn on subject fields directly from the Messages app, so open up Settings, tap "Messages" to view its options, then toggle on the setting for "Show Subject Field" under SMS/MMS. However, just because it's in the SMS/MMS section doesn't mean it's not compatible with iMessage because it totally is.

Step 2: Add Subject Lines in ConversationsBack in the Messages app, you'll see a new "Subject" field right above the regular text field in all conversation threads. Anything you write in that subject field will appear in bold in your messages and in the messages of the person receiving your texts. Bold text is probably the biggest reason to do this, though you can make text bold and change fonts in third-party keyboards if you want.However, keep in mind that if you want to make the whole message bold, i.e., only use the "Subject" field for the message and not the "iMessage" or "Text Message" field, then the subject will act like a normal message and nothing will be bolded. Below are two examples, one showing what it looks like on your end in an iMessage thread and one in an SMS thread. As you can see, both subjects lines are indeed bold. There doesn't seem to be a limit on how many characters can be in the subject line, so you can make them as short or long as you want. Below are a few screenshots of what the subject line from an iPhone looks like on a recipients iPhone (left) as well as an Android phone (right). The subject line will only appear in the Messages application when enabled, not anywhere else on your iPhone. That means the subject line won't appear in notifications, in Spotlight search, and so on. On Android, the recipient's messages inbox page may show the whole messages as bold, which is common to show it hasn't been read.

Step 3: Remove Subject Line in Messages AppThe subject line in Messages isn't for everyone, and even though you could leave the subject field blank, it can quickly get annoying if you're not using it often. Luckily, removing the feature is just as easy as enabling it. Go into the Settings app, tap "Messages," then toggle off "Show Subject Field" (so that it's not green) to disable it.Messages you've already sent with bold subject lines in your threads will still show up like that after disabling the feature. You just can't make any mod bold subject lines until you turn it back on. 4K 60 FPS & 1080p 240 FPS Slo-MoBuilding on the 4K ability that has been available since the iPhone 6S, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will now be able to shoot in 4K at 60 FPS (frame per second). That format is great at capturing motion, so your videos will look smoother than ever.The 8 and 8 Plus also now shoot 240 FPS slo-mo at 1080p. That's a quality jump from the 7 and 7 Plus, which both max out at 720p for 240 FPS. Your slo-mo videos will look the best they've ever looked on the 8 and 8 Plus.
Augmented Reality (AR)Augmented reality is now a focus on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Apple showed off how its newest phones will allow you to use augmented reality in more situations than ever before, like games, educational apps, sports apps, and more.Cool features like spacial audio change the volume and design of the sound of the AR as you move closer or further away from the source. Faster A11 Bionic ProcessorIf there's one thing guaranteed with each new secondary model (with each new iPhone, in fact), it's that Apple upgrades its chipset. With the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, Apple is introducing the A11 Bionic chip.Apple claims the A11 is up to 70% faster than the A10 fusion chip found in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The phones also now have six-core processors as opposed to the quad-core processors on the 7 and 7 Plus.
Updated StorageWhile the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus started at 32 GB storage capacities, Apple scratched that base limit. Now, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come with either 64 GB or 256 GB. And thank goodness for that. iPhones don't have expandable storage, so anything under 64 GB really fills up quick.

Wireless ChargingWireless charging is finally available for iPhones. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will support the feature based on Qi technology, which is a wireless charging standard that already works with many car and tech companies. Fast ChargingAlso worthy to note is that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, just like the iPhone X, is capable of fast charging, gaining 50% charge in about 30 minutes, but you have to use Apple's USB-C power adapters. That means more money for you (at least $74), since these devices ship with a USB power adapter, not a USB-C one. Glass EncasingThe iPhone 8 and 8 Plus now feature all-glass enclosures, which, in addition to being a nice aesthetic addition, is what allows the phone to be compatible with wireless charging.
